dolphin fish

Friday 14th of March – a great offshore day with an excellent catch

Yes, Jessica’s team did very well with a catch of mahi mahi, yellowfin tuna and skipjacks.  We hooked up the yellowfin in shallow water off Middle Ground off Cronulla and it is very unusual!

Yellowfin tuna would have to be one of the top fish in the sea.  They are torpedo shaped with dark metallic blue backs, yellow sides, and a silver belly and excellent eating. Yellowfin live up to six or seven years. They are migratory and found throughout the Pacific, Atlantic and Indian Oceans.

They are known to associate with dolphins; in our case we had big pods of dolphins a few miles east of the Royal National Park so there is a relationship.
