It was a tough day at the office today with mutton birds desperately hungry stealing our baits

It was a good weekend but difficult with lots of mutton birds chasing bait quite a few meters under the boat. With the prevailing north easterly wind the conditions were good until around midday when we were heading home. Yesterday the team did well with a mixed catch of reef fish like snapper, cod, wrasses, morwong, flathead, etc. As we were crossing the bay on the way home we found massive schools of tailor and brought in a dozen. And as you can see in the picture, 14 year old Kiernan was very happy with a triple hook-up.

Today Sunday was similar but less fish landed, except a couple of very nice blue morwong and a pigfish. With the birds going crazy, we gave up on the reef fishing and finished the day trolling four nautical miles east of Cronulla. The guys did really well landing three good size tuna. Good team work!
