Fish of The Day…was a surprise!

It’s a Parrot Fish visiting from the coral or subtropical ocean up north. What brought him to a reef north east of Bate Bay off Cronulla, you wonder?

So nice work Luke J and it will be a nice dinner. They are great eating with lovely, soft white flesh and considered a delicacy in many parts of the world. They can be cooked any old way – raw, fried, grilled, baked or added to a curry.

In most species, the females are dull red, brown or grey, and the males are green or blue with bright yellow or pink patches, like in this picture.
