Fish of the day – a red rock cod and a six-spined leatherjacket

After catching some nice size sand flathead and throwing back many small ones, Les suggested we should fish a reef. Yep, no problem, off we went to our favourite headland off Wattamolla and a patch of reef in about 20 meters. We have often seen salmon and kingfish in that area and could see splashes on the surface but no hook-up today.
But the fish of the day was a very nice one kilo red rock cod, also known as ‘poor man’s lobster’. And six-spined leatherjacket are always welcome with the striking colours, they are also an excellent table fish. Well done and thank you Dianne for making it a pleasant day for all onboard.
