A fish aggregation device, also known as a FAD, is simply a float anchored to the sea bed. Fish like dolphin fish and yellowtail kingfish tend to gather around objects floating on the surface of the ocean, such as logs, debris, etc. This natural phenomenon is helping us to detect and catch fish.
As you can see in the picture, this particular FAD is almost dragged under the surface because of a strong current of warm water from the north. The current was pushing south at 2.6 knots and at 24 C degrees. That is the temperature we are looking for.
