Today we were fishing Tuna Town. And where is that you ask?
We had a very nice day with calm seas, clear sky and water at 23.6 C off-shore. It is a little strange with the current now running to the north. And it has changed the off-shore picture completely, we couldn’t find the mahi’s at our FAD that we were targeting. The Port Hacking FAD is located about 12 NM east off Cronulla and we have had some nice fish there during the last month. But not today, it was disappointing with no fish.
But about a mile inside the continental shelf we found Tuna Town! Here it is: S34.07.658 and E151.26.523. It is in about 70 fathom. Fish came in at a good rate but in the end, we suggested stop catching more fish! The boxes are full and we don’t want to kill more fish than we can eat. The best striped tuna came in at 4.5 kilo, hooked up by Jonathan. But as you know, fishing locations are changing daily so let’s see on Easter Monday when we will be back!
