We had a great weekend with very different sea conditions and fish species
On the Saturday we knew it was going to be windy mid-afternoon with a southerly change. So we headed down to our favourite Werrong Beach and the Hump off Stanwell Park. Light wind and slight sea, clear sky and very nice. All good, but the strong current made bottom fishing difficult. So back to trolling going north and we had a strong tuna strike but unfortunately dropped it just behind the boat – bad luck Kristian! And then the wind came in early at 30 to 35 knots – time to go home!
So today Sunday we faced the effects of the wind yesterday with fairly big swell, the crests luckily wide apart which made it fishable at Middle Ground. Rhys brought in a mako shark on our live yellowtail bait – well done! And we had massive schools of Australian salmon and Striped Tuna which made it a very interesting day. They were all over Bate Bay and the sea boiling as they were feeding on white bait, as you can see in the pictures.
